Jenny & Alex’s Charlevoix Yacht Club Wedding Photography was a day filled with laughter and fun all around Northern Michigan! This couple shared a wedding that was just as classy as they are. From beginning to end everyone could feel the love these two have for each other!
We started the day at the Inn at Bay Harbor. Jenny and her bridesmaids greeted us in cute, comfy pajama sets. I began by photographing the bridal details. So much thought goes into the big day! Then we had a fun shoot on the large balcony overlooking Lake Michigan. Once Jenny popped open a bottle of bubbly the fun really began!
After the fun out on the balcony we moved inside. The bride’s mother and her maid of honor helped her into her beautiful gown from Bridal and Formal by Badgley Mischka.
While I photographed these amazing moments with the bride, my second photographer was photographing the groom details. The guys typically don’t take as long to get ready as the girls, but are equally fun to photograph! We were able to capture some wonderful shots of the groom and his men getting ready and having fun outside together.
The “First Look” was so beautiful! Right along the lakeshore the couple saw each other for the first time on their wedding day. We love being able to photograph these intimate moments with the bride and groom. After the couple shared this time together we called the wedding party over to join the fun! Once those portraits are finished it really frees up a lot more time to enjoy the other events of the day after the ceremony.
Alex and Jenny were married at St Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Under the cathedral’s vaulted ceilings they shared their first kiss. The beautiful moment witnessed by friends and family. Out on the steps of the church, the couple enjoyed a grand exit. The photos from these always turn out so cute!
The Charlevoix Yacht Club wedding reception, which was designed by Elsilu Events, was stunning! The bride and groom got to have a “first look” at the details and were so happy! The couple even shared an intimate dance together in the room before guests entered. The reception showcased beautiful floral pieces designed by Bellisario Florist. Jenny told us that the overall design was a mix of inspiration. She wanted to pair Alex’s east coast style and her love of bright colors, all while honoring Alex’s Greek family. The result was incredible!
After a lovely cocktail hour, the party moved to the reception space. The couple, welcomed as husband and wife, enjoyed a traditional first dance. Finally, the two were able to sit down and enjoy a glass of champagne over speeches. There were so many laughs! We love capturing the sweet emotions on everyone’s face during the reception! The two then cut a beautiful, three-tier wedding cake by Sugar Me Sweet, decorated with real flowers.
The couple then danced the traditional father-daughter and mother-son dances. These are such special moments. I feel so honored to have been able to capture these photographs!
The dance floor then opened up for all of the family and friends to join in! Skyline and the Backstreet Horns played the night away! After a bit of fun with everyone, Jenny and Alex headed outside for a moment alone. We made our way to the Charlevoix Yacht Club docks for some beautiful portraits. The two got to spend a little time holding each other and taking in the day. Sneaking away from the reception for sunset photos is always a favorite part of the day for our couples. And there was plenty reception to get back to!
The evening was filled with laughter and high spirits. An absolutely perfect end to a gorgeous wedding day! I am so happy that I was able to give this beautiful couple equally beautiful photographs that they and their family will enjoy for many years to come. Cheers, Jenny and Alex!
