Lake Michigan Senior Portrait Photography | Sophia

Sophia’s Lake Michigan Senior Portrait Photography took place in the quaint town of Charlevoix, Michigan. In just a short distance, you can enjoy the woods, lakeshore, and downtown!

I was thrilled to meet up with Sophia and capture this exciting time that everyone experiences their senior year of high school. For every session, we make sure to discuss your vision, location ideas, and outfits you have in mind too!

For Sophia’s session, she knew she wanted to have her portraits taken in the town she and her family have been coming to for years. I met her at our first location, an open field with many layers of grasses, trees, and even a red barn! She wore a white dress with muted florals that fit in great with the landscape!

After utilizing the natural scenery inland we headed over to the Lake Michigan shoreline. I love capturing portraits at two different locations to offer a variety of images to each client. Typically one location is always at the lake and I love it! Northern Michigan is known for the beautiful beaches in the summer and I always encourage some lakeshore portraits!

Sophia changed into her last outfit for the session and it was an awesome pairing with the dunes, sunshine, and lake. It’s great seeing the unique outfits each of our seniors chooses for their sessions.

Michigan Family Portrait Photography | Dudek Family

The Dudek’s Northern Michigan family portrait photography was just outside the quaint town of Charlevoix, Michigan at Mt. McSauba Recreation Area. 

I was so excited to meet up with the Dudek Family to capture some long-lasting memories for them to cherish. It was their first visit to Northern Michigan with their baby daughter! I met them at Mt. McSauba which offers beautiful scenery from wooded trails, sand dunes, and of course Lake Michigan. 

Before walking down to the lake I found a nice area for the family of 3 to sit. The sunshine and dune grass made for a great backdrop and I was able to capture images of the family together and individually with their daughter. Before each session, we make sure to communicate with all of our clients to get a list of family groupings that you would like during your own portrait session! 

After taking images in the dunes we made our way down to the lakeshore. This sunny summer day was a picturesque Northern Michigan day, the lake was even nice and calm for us! I had the family play with their daughter in the water, walk along the lakeshore, and sit together in the sand.

During each session, we strive to get a great mixture of candids and slightly posed images. Having a variety helps to tell more of a story of your session that can be framed or even put into a coffee table album! We want to provide great imagery along with a tangible product for you to remember this special time!

Old Mission Peninsula Engagement Photography | Carly & Luke

Carly & Luke’s Old Mission Peninsula Engagement Photography was on a stunning spring evening in Northern Michigan! Springtime is such a welcome time of year here in Northern Michigan. All the trees start to green up and the flowers start blooming, it’s like everything is starting to wake up!

I haven’t done an engagement session in the heart of Downtown Traverse City in a while. Thrilled to look for some new beautiful areas to photograph I walked around and noticed purple blooms and a bridge! I met Carly and Luke at a boardwalk along the Lower Boardman River. The evening sun was glowing in the background creating such a dreamy look for these images! If you haven’t been to this area before, the Lower Boardman River is a great spot to paddleboard and kayak with the opportunity to make some stops along the way for food or drinks!

After walking around the boardwalk I suggested that we take a short drive up Old Mission Peninsula to find some blooming trees. Many of the trees were past full bloom but we were lucky to find some apple trees that were still holding strong! Carly & Luke’s outfits correlated so well with the scenery, Carly’s dress even matched the tiny white apple blossoms. As the sun set behind the hills on Old Mission Peninsula, we headed back downtown to one final location.

After a quick outfit change, I looked around and noticed a brick building covered in vines and twinkle lights overhead. It was perfect! I am so thrilled this engagement session came together and am always excited to see our client’s outfits and locations they have in mind! I always have a list of favorite areas too if you’re short on ideas!
